From one island to another…

Hello! We're David and Laura — the two behind the inn and the grocery store on North Haven (well, the two of us and a whole lot of help; more on that in a second). We came here from another island, Nantucket, so island life runs deep for us: the ferry schedules, the way everyone knows your coffee order, the particular quiet of winter. We couldn't be happier to be part of this one.

We fell in love with Maine, got engaged and married here, and vacationed here every year, always half-dreaming of making it home. Then one year we actually did it — which sounded very romantic right until we got here in January, and then there was a snowstorm.

The market is the heart of it — coffee in the morning, a place to catch up with neighbors, and shelves that run from the everyday basics to the small-producer finds we can't help hauling back from the mainland. It grows and shifts with the seasons, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
