How Freight Works

A grocery run, with room for more

Our freight service exists because the island needs groceries. Every freight day, our truck leaves the island, crosses on the ferry, and drives to our rented mainland warehouse (Bowden's Egg Farm or Bunker's) to load fresh food and goods for the market — the only grocery store on North Haven. When there's room left on the truck, we bring other freight back with it.

  1. Step 01

    Truck leaves the island

Our truck boards the ferry and heads to the mainland.

  2. Step 02

    Load at the warehouse

At Bowden's Egg Farm or Bunker's, we load groceries for the market first.

  3. Step 03

    Freight rides along

If there's room left, your freight comes too — furniture, building supplies, boxes, space permitting.

  4. Step 04

    Pick up at the market

Once we're back on the island, please collect your freight from the market promptly.

Groceries are the priority on every run; additional freight comes second. There are days when the truck is full of food and we can't take anything else — when that happens, we'll let you know and roll your items to the next freight day.

The honest part: bringing groceries to the island is expensive, and the freight service barely offsets the cost of running the truck. We do it because the island needs it, and we're grateful for your patience when the truck is full or the schedule is tight.
