Visiting & Staying
The Maine State Ferry runs from Rockland, ME year-round — about an hour across Penobscot Bay. You can also come by private boat, or by mail plane via Penobscot Island Air.
Cancellations within 30 days of arrival are non-refundable. Cancellations prior to 30 days are refunded minus a $50 per room processing fee ($100 for Suite Deal or Family Suite bookings). We encourage purchasing traveler's insurance if your plans are uncertain.
To keep our spaces clean and allergen-free, we do not allow pets on the property. Service animals trained to assist guests with disabilities are welcome — just let us know in advance.
The Market
7 days a week, 7am – 7pm. Hours may shift on holidays.
Yes. Our freight service runs because the island needs groceries — every freight day, our truck crosses on the ferry to a mainland warehouse to load fresh food and goods for the market. When there's room left on the truck, we bring other freight back with it. Groceries are always the priority, so additional freight rides along when space allows.
Yes — house accounts are available for island residents and returning guests. It's an easy way to keep a running tab at the market. Stop by the market to set one up.
Dining & Community
A three-course, prix fixe dinner held on select Mondays in summer, prepared by our chef, Ben Jackson — a James Beard Award finalist. Seating is limited and reservations are required; menus and dates are announced closer to the season.
Shop small, shop local. Every dollar spent at the market stays on the island — it goes to fair wages for our staff, the affordable housing we provide them, and keeping the only grocery store on North Haven running year-round. The next time you're planning a full day off-island just to grocery shop, consider that the time and ferry fares often add up to more than the savings, and those dollars leave the island instead of circulating here. We're grateful for every grocery run that stays local.
